Community Guidelines

The rules of the FlyConnect community

Aviation is a small world, and this platform only works if it stays a place people are glad to be. These are the rules, in plain language — they apply to every profile, message, post, group and event on FlyConnect.

On this page

  1. Who FlyConnect is for
  2. Harassment and bullying
  3. Threats, violence and self-harm
  4. Fake profiles and impersonation
  5. Scams and financial exploitation
  6. Spam and unsolicited promotion
  7. Privacy and other people’s information
  8. Location features and safe meetups
  9. Check-In Safety — what it is and is not
  10. Content that does not belong here
  11. Reporting, and what we do about it
  12. Changes to these guidelines

1. Who FlyConnect is for

FlyConnect is the ecosystem for the aviation community — flight crew, cabin crew, ground handling, engineering, dispatch, ATC, airport staff and the people who work alongside them. You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account.

Use your real identity. One person, one account. Accounts exist to connect real people in a small industry where reputation matters.

2. Harassment and bullying

Do not target anyone with abuse, threats, slurs, sexual harassment, unwanted sexual advances, stalking or repeated unwanted contact. This applies in chats, comments, group posts, event pages and profile fields alike.

Harassment based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or medical condition is removed and the account is actioned.

If someone blocks you, that is the end of the conversation. Creating another account, or using a group or event to reach them again, is evasion and is treated as a serious violation.

3. Threats, violence and self-harm

No threats of violence against anyone, no incitement, no glorification of violence, and nothing that threatens aviation safety or security — including hoaxes about aircraft, airports or flights, which we report to the appropriate authorities.

Content encouraging self-harm or suicide is removed. If you are struggling, please contact a local crisis line or your employer’s peer support programme. FlyConnect is not a crisis service.

4. Fake profiles and impersonation

Do not impersonate another person, an airline, an airport, a regulator or FlyConnect itself. Do not claim ratings, licences, ranks or employment you do not hold, and do not use another person’s photographs as your own.

Verification badges reflect a check we performed. Attempting to obtain one with forged documents ends the account permanently.

5. Scams and financial exploitation

No fraud of any kind. That includes romance scams, advance-fee and “stuck abroad” requests, fake job or crew-recruitment offers, fake training or licence services, investment and crypto schemes, phishing links and requests for gift cards or transfers from people you have met on the platform.

Never send money, documents or account credentials to someone you know only through FlyConnect. Genuine airlines and recruiters do not ask candidates to pay fees through a messaging app. Report it instead — you may be one of several people being approached.

6. Spam and unsolicited promotion

No bulk or repetitive messaging, no mass follow or invite behaviour, no automated accounts, no engagement farming, and no promotion of unrelated products or services in chats, groups or the feed.

Commercial offers belong in the Partner programme, not in members’ inboxes. If you want to reach the community with an offer, become a FlyConnect Partner.

7. Privacy and other people’s information

Do not post another person’s private information without their consent: home address, personal phone number, roster, staff or crew ID, passport or licence details, medical information, or their location.

Do not screenshot or forward private messages to shame, expose or pressure someone. Do not post photographs of colleagues, passengers or restricted areas where doing so would breach your employer’s policy, a privacy law, or airport and airline security rules.

Recording, scraping or collecting members’ data in bulk is prohibited.

8. Location features and safe meetups

Location sharing is voluntary and controlled by you. Misusing it is a violation: do not use Nearby, check-ins or any location signal to follow, track, ambush or turn up on somebody who has not agreed to meet you, and do not pressure anyone into switching their location on or revealing where they are staying.

Meeting up is one of the good parts of this community. Do it sensibly:

  • Meet in a public place first — a terminal, a crew hotel lobby, a café.
  • Tell someone you trust where you are going and when you expect to be back.
  • Arrange your own transport, and keep control of it.
  • Never share your hotel room number, and be careful about naming your hotel.
  • If something feels wrong, leave. You do not owe anyone an explanation.

FlyConnect does not screen, background-check or vouch for members, and a verification badge is not a safety guarantee. Meetings arranged through the platform happen at your own risk.

9. Check-In Safety — what it is and is not

Check-In Safety lets you tell people you choose that you are Safe, Unsure or that you need help. You set the audience when you post it, and the check-in expires by itself after 24 hours.

FlyConnect is not an emergency service. A check-in notifies other FlyConnect members only. It does not contact police, fire, ambulance, airport authorities, your airline or your employer, we do not monitor check-ins, and we cannot guarantee that anyone will see or respond to one. In an emergency, always call your local emergency number first.

10. Content that does not belong here

No sexual content or nudity, no content involving minors, no illegal goods, weapons or controlled substances, no hate organisations or terrorist content, no malware or links to it, and no material you do not have the rights to post.

Do not post confidential airline, airport or manufacturer information, incident or investigation material you are not authorised to release, or anything that would breach your employer’s social media, confidentiality or security policy. That one is between you and your employer, and we cannot protect you from it.

11. Reporting, and what we do about it

Every profile, message, post, group and event carries a report control, and you can block any member at any time. Reports go to our moderation team — you can report anonymously, and we do not tell the other person who reported them.

Depending on what we find, we may remove content, limit an account’s reach, suspend it, or remove it permanently. Serious cases — threats to life, child safety, credible aviation security threats — are referred to law enforcement. Repeated minor violations end the same way as one serious one.

Think we got it wrong? Reply to the notice you received, or email support@flyconnect.co and a different moderator will look at it.

12. Changes to these guidelines

The community will grow and these rules will change with it. We will post material changes here and, where they affect you directly, in the app. Continuing to use FlyConnect after a change means the updated guidelines apply to you.
