Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

FlyConnect is a product of UrbanSync Innovations LLC (“UrbanSync”, “we”, “us”), which is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

• Account details: name, email address, password, date of birth, and a phone number if you choose to add one.
• Profile details: airline or employer, base, airport, role, aircraft or fleet, home city and state, bio, travel history, interests, photographs and anything else you choose to add.
• Content: posts, comments, messages, group and event activity, passport stamps and safety check-ins.
• Reports you make about another member, post, group or conversation.
• Verification material, where you ask to be verified.
• Anything you send us through the website forms or by email.

Information we collect automatically

• Device and app data: device model, operating system, app version, language, crash and diagnostic logs.
• Usage data: features used, screens viewed, and general activity patterns.
• IP address and approximate region derived from it.
• A push notification token, so we can deliver notifications to your device.
• Precise location, only while you have location sharing switched on.

Information from Google and Apple sign-in

If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name, email address and profile photo from that provider. We never receive your Google or Apple password.

3. Your location, and who can see it

This is the part people care about most, so it is stated plainly.

• Location sharing is off until you turn it on. You can turn it off again at any time, in the app or in your device settings.
• You choose who can see you in Nearby: Everyone, Verified members or Friends. You can also hide yourself from Nearby entirely.
• Every safety check-in carries its own audience, chosen as you post it. Changing your default later does not retroactively widen a check-in that has already been shared.
• Check-ins expire automatically after 24 hours.
• We do not sell your location, and we do not share it with advertisers or partners.

Location is only ever as private as the audience you pick. Anything you share with Everyone should be treated as public.

4. Check-In Safety is not an emergency service

Check-In Safety notifies other FlyConnect members you have chosen. It does not contact police, fire, ambulance, airport authorities, your airline or your employer, we do not monitor check-ins, and we cannot guarantee that anyone will see or act on one. In an emergency, call your local emergency number first.

5. How we use your information

• To run the service: your account, profile, feed, messaging, groups, events, passport stamps and check-ins.
• To show you relevant people, groups, events and partner offers.
• To keep the community safe: detecting fake accounts, spam, scams, harassment and other breaches of our Community Guidelines.
• To support you when you contact us.
• To improve the product through aggregated, non-identifying analytics.
• To meet legal obligations and to respond to lawful requests.

6. Messaging and content security

Messages are transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) and stored on our servers in encrypted form. We do not claim end-to-end encryption. Treat FlyConnect messaging as private-but-not-secret: do not send passport scans, licence numbers, financial details or anything you would not want disclosed if an account were compromised or if we were legally required to produce it.

7. Who we share it with

• Other members, according to the audience settings you choose.
• Service providers who host, deliver and support the platform, under contract and only for those purposes. Our principal provider is Google Firebase, which handles sign-in, the database, file storage, analytics, crash reporting and push notifications, alongside our web hosting and email delivery providers.
• Authorities, where we are legally required to, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent serious harm.
• A successor, if UrbanSync is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. You will be told before your information moves.

We do not sell your personal information. Partner offers are shown to you by FlyConnect; partners do not receive your personal details unless you choose to take up an offer and are told so at that point.

8. How long we keep it

Account and profile data is kept for as long as your account is open.

When you delete your account from Settings, we immediately delete your profile, your saved posts, your blocked list, your followers and following lists, your trip and passport history, your sign-in identity and your push notification token. Two things do not vanish, and you should know this before you delete:

• Posts you wrote are anonymised rather than deleted — they stay up as “[deleted user]”, detached from your name and photo, so that other people’s replies still make sense. Delete individual posts first if you want them gone entirely.
• Messages you sent may remain visible to the people you sent them to, detached from your profile.

Encrypted backups may still hold your data for up to 30 days after deletion, after which it is purged. If you ask us to delete your account by email instead, we complete verified requests within 30 days. Some records are kept longer where the law requires it, or where they relate to a safety or fraud investigation.

9. Your rights and controls

In the app you can edit or delete your profile and content, change your location and visibility settings, block and report members, control notifications, and delete your account outright from Settings.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and take your data elsewhere. To exercise any of these, email privacy@flyconnect.co. We answer within the period the applicable law allows, and we do not charge for it.

Members in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland have additional rights under the GDPR; residents of California have additional rights under the CCPA and CPRA.

10. Children

FlyConnect is for adults working in and around aviation. It is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from under-18s. If you believe a minor holds an account, tell us at privacy@flyconnect.co and we will remove it.

11. International transfers

Aviation is global and so is this community: your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where data protection law may differ from your own. Where the law requires it we rely on standard contractual clauses or other approved safeguards to protect your information in transit between countries.

12. Changes to this policy

We will post any material change here and, where it affects you directly, tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
